Raise

An appraisal system for AI-assisted work

Raise is a new appraisal system built for a specific situation: AI now performs most of the coding and design workload, and the old ways of valuing that work — hours logged, headcount, lines written — no longer describe what actually happened.

Important. Raise produces estimates for internal decision-making. It is not a certified or regulated appraisal, not an audit, and not a substitute for a licensed valuation professional. See the limits section before using any output.
RAISE

§01 · The problem

Why the old measures stopped working

Time stopped tracking effort

When a large portion of implementation is generated, hours spent no longer correlate with the difficulty or the value of what was produced.

Volume stopped meaning anything

Output volume is close to free. Counting files, commits, or screens rewards generation rather than judgement.

The scarce input moved

What remains scarce is specification quality, review, taste, integration, and accountability for the result. Those are the things worth appraising.

Pricing became guesswork

Without a shared frame, teams and clients end up negotiating from anecdote. Raise exists to give that conversation a consistent structure.

§02 · The system

What Raise actually measures

The model is being developed. The dimensions below describe the intended structure, not a finished specification.

  1. Specification depth. How completely the problem was defined before generation began.
  2. Judgement applied. Decisions made, options rejected, and constraints resolved by a person.
  3. Review and correction. What was checked, what was found, and what was changed as a result.
  4. Integration burden. Effort to make generated work fit an existing system rather than a blank one.
  5. Accountability carried. Who is answerable if the delivered work fails in production.
  6. Durability. Whether the result is maintainable by others, or disposable.

Intended uses

  • Internal pricing conversations
  • Scoping and estimation
  • Contributor recognition
  • Comparing two approaches

Not intended for

  • Financial reporting or audit
  • Tax or transfer-pricing positions
  • Investment or lending decisions
  • Litigation or dispute evidence

Human in the loop

  • Outputs are reviewed, not auto-applied
  • Inputs are self-reported and checkable
  • Assumptions are recorded with the result
  • Disagreement is expected and logged

§03 · Limits and disclaimers

Read this before using an output

Not a certified appraisal. Raise is not a regulated valuation service. Its outputs are not prepared under USPAP, IVS, RICS, or any equivalent standard, and must not be presented as if they were.
Not professional advice. Nothing produced by Raise constitutes financial, investment, accounting, tax, or legal advice. Consult a qualified professional before acting on any figure.
Estimates, not facts. Outputs are estimates derived from inputs you supply. Inaccurate, incomplete, or optimistic inputs produce inaccurate results. Garbage in, garbage out applies fully.
AI involvement. Parts of the system may use automated or AI-assisted analysis, which can be wrong, biased, or inconsistent between runs. Treat outputs as a starting point for discussion, not a verdict.
No employment determinations. Raise is not designed to set wages, justify termination, or make any other employment decision, and should not be used as the sole basis for one.
Subject to change. The methodology is in active development. Definitions, weightings, and outputs may change without notice, and results from different versions are not directly comparable.
